Fi(r)e         D(o)g            (c)lown               Mon(K)           rocK

Naming each type of fish, and then taking the letter which corresponds to its Number of Bubbles gives the capital letter of the  different types of fish: Toad, Sand, Lung and Rock.

Using the numbers on the right, top corner of each fish tank and taking the first new fish TOAD we take the 1st letter T, then the 2nd letter of the SAND fish A, the 3rd letter of the LUNG fish N and finally the 4th letter of the ROCK fish K giving TANK as in FISH TANK.

TURN BY Pi (Rotate by 180° degrees)

Why is pi = 180 Degrees? pi radians are equal to 180 degrees. Radians are a unit of measurement for angles, just like degrees are, and pi is just the number of radians that makes up that angle. Just as one radian is equal to 57.3 degrees.

T W rotated by 180 degrees = F X

U H rotated by 180 degrees = L M

S R rotated by 180 degrees = O A

G N rotated by 180 degrees = P J

E B rotated by 180 degrees = Y K

Message from Liz Colclough

Hiya Stephen,

Just looking at your GCHQ puzzle solving page at the meta puzzle. Number 7 - On the Level, I can't quite follow what you did with the letters to get the answer, I think you've kind of rotated them - but what I did was to rotate the second circuit board by 180 degrees and follow the circuit again.

If you do that you get FLATLAND! :-) QED.

I've done a diagram from your image...

8. Alphabetimal (9) DRAGONFLY

Starting from the top left diagonal, going through:

AGX, ADO, AEF = FOX

IIR, CEO, GGL, ACF = FROG

CPZ, ELR, EEM, BEO, ADT = ZEBRA

ORW, NRT, HLN, EGT = NEWT

UWY, KOR, AMO = YAK

Top right diagonal, going through:

AEF, ACF, ADT = CAT

ADO, GGL, BEO, EGT = GOAT

AGX, CEO, EEM, HLN, AMO = CAMEL

IIR, ELR, NRT, KOR = LION

CPZ, ORW, UWY = COW

Top to bottom, left to right, going through:

AGX, IIR, CPZ = PIG

ADO, CEO, ELR, ORW = DEER

AEF, GGL, EEM, NRT, UWY = LEMUR (Middle Picture = LEMUR)

ACF, BEO, HLN, KOR = HARE

ADT, EGT, AMO = DOG

Pick the letter in each where that letter was part of the original animal, and you will find: FYALNGD O. Making the middle picture a LEMUR allows us to use, either E or M giving:

FYALNGDEO = GADFLY or using the M FYALNGDMO = MANYFOLD

The solution must be to use R giving: FYALNGDRO = DRAGONFLY

Click on the Anagram Solver below, copy and past FYALNGDRO

into the RACK window then click SEARCH.

The anagram of FYALNGDRO = DRAGONFLY
